The Extra Man on Sunday
This happened when I was a PTI (Physical Training Instructor) stationed in Pulau T***** (in the camp with the three door bunk, but that's another story). NSmen who failed their IPPT have to go for Remedial Training in Pulau T***** at that time (now RT is on main island).
They will be gathered every Sunday morning and everyone accounted for at Hend** Camp jetty before proceeding to the RPL to go to T*****. Upon reaching, the NSmen have a chance to get off the island provided they pass the IPPT held on that Sunday afternoon.
The issue of the extra man occurred after the NSmen who passed on that day went back in the evening. Me and my fellow PTIs were always very careful in accounting for everyone. Counting the men at different times during the day was a must.
After dinner, when we gathered the NSmen to brief them on the programme the next 7 days (failures have to stay in camp), there was only a big spotlight shining on the NSmen. The men were in their three rows and when we counted them, there is an extra man! (i.e. one more person than what we have in our nominal row)
Of course when that happened, we had to recount them. We asked them to line up in one single file and counted again. This time the number of men is right. Back to three rows, one extra man again! We did this quite a number of times.
We even went to check each person, their nametag and look at their faces. Yet we could not find the extra man. That was not the end. We decided to send them back to their bunks and did our mandatory fire drill a few hours later.
Without fail, the extra man showed up! Three rows, one extra man. Single file, number of men tallied. We were left with no choice but to send the men back to sleep.Come Monday to Friday, the number of men remained the same as the nominal roll.
Strangely, the extra man only shows up on Sundays. I encountered him at least on five different weeks with different groups of NSmen. My more senior PTIs have encountered him more times than me.Who is he? No one knew.
Maybe he could just be a lonely soul who wanted some Sunday company.(btw. we never told the NSmen about this. They always thought that the counting of men in three rows and single file was part of their remedial training)
come to think of it.
sibei scary.
to think i used to volunteer duties on Sun.
no.. im not garang.
just that i always mj whole night on Sat,

i might as well go back camp and koon.

The female ghost on the breakwaters off Pulau t*****
I was at the BMTC, a coy in school 2 in yr 2000. My buddy and I was picked to do guard duty for the first time in our life. The time was 2.30 am. We were holding our rifle and chatting as we "stroll" around Pulau t*****, as if we are having a holiday on a beach resort.
As we were able to reach the part of t***** whereby there is this long stretch of breakwaters, I saw a female with long hair, sitting on the breakwater about 50-70metres away from where we were standing. I asked my buddy whether he saw what i saw, and he replied positive, in a stuttering voice.
After seeing the female figure, we were frozed, and i was thinking to myself, "how come in t***** at this hour got a female sitting here." I know it was not possible for any living female to be sitting at the breakwater in T*****. And i was not ready to find out.I decided to use the walkie talkie to flag out what we saw to the guardroom.
After telling my sergeant what we saw, he came down on a landrover, with a few other men. My sergeant also saw what we saw after he arrive, and i can see that he almost freaked out at what he saw. After all of us stood there froze for another 5 mins, my sergeant decided that we should go nearer and see what "she" is doing at this hour.About 5 of us, we muster our courage and walk towards "her" .
Every step we took was extremely heavy. As we draw neaerr to "her", i was preparing the worst for what I am about to see. At around 15 metres away from "her", my sergeant called out " Excuse me, Miss..." "She" did not turn around. My sergeant once again call out to her, this time stuttering a little." Excuse me, Miss..." We all froze about 5 seconds, and then "she" turn around her head.
After "she" turn around, we almost could not believe what we saw."She" was actually a guy. It the foreign worker who was working at one of the construction project on Pulau T*****, and apparently he is sitting at the breakwater, with a fishing rod beside him trying to fish for his breakfast or something. Geez, all of us almost got the greatest fright of our life.!!!!!
hahaha... funny right....
i almost burst out laughing.
if i was the guard comd that night,
